Think Shapley’s products are just for horses?
Turns out, you can use them on your dog, and even on yourself!
Very often, we have the best intentions to let our dogs come to the barn with us. And very often, they show their appreciation by rolling in a variety of known, and sometimes unknown, things.
If your dog’s rolling enthusiasm leaves him with a stain, any of the Shapley’s shampoos will do the trick. For white or light haired dogs, the EquiTone shampoos add shine and color. Just like for horses, the purple EquiTone will work on any color to remove stains and add some reflection.
Medi-Care shampoo is great for the horse or dog with sensitive skin.
The Hi Shine shampoo is also an easy go. If your dog happens to be more sensitive, you can try the Medi-Care shampoo to add some soothing tea tree and jojoba oils. This formula also smells amazingly nice!
If your dog looks really clean - but some some reason he has a funky smell, then a deodorizer is your go-to. Easy Out is a two for one special, removing smells and stains. It’s also a product you don’t need to rinse out - perfect for colder weather.
Here's Calvin from Lisa Hellmer Dressage sporting a clean coat after his "mystery stain" was removed.
But what about us?
We also get to borrow the horse products. Easy Out’s deodorizing properties make a hand washing easy, even without a sink. It’s also strong enough to remove any lingering hickory bacon BBQ aromas if you have applied Original M-T-G or M-T-G Plus recently.
For those days where your riding helmet has created a nest out of your hair, use some Magic Sheen to detangle and smooth out your locks. Mane Mousse is a great styling tool to use if your hair needs some help staying contained in a bun or braid as you ride.
The Shapley’s No. 1 and No. 2 Oils can be used as a deep conditioning treatment for your hair. You might just want to do the ends, or you can use more. Leave in for minutes to hours and then shampoo out with a mild shampoo.
Maybe all of these tips and tricks can get you from barn to running errands without looking (and smelling…) like you were just at the barn! And you car will smell a little nicer if your pup is clean for the ride home, too. As always, a little bit goes a long way.You will also want to do a patch test on your pet or your own skin before using.
